One of the reasons New York is a pretty great place to live is the sheer variety of cuisine available to us at any time, in virtually any part of the city. With the boom of food trucks in recent years, that’s never been more true: it’s basically a restaurant that drives right to you. That said, if you’re feeling overwhelmed by your choices, or just need suggested alternatives to your Sad Desk Salad, we’ve pulled together a list of some of our favorite street eats.

Coolhaus
What: Made-to-order ice cream sandwiches, handcrafted from a rotating selection of 5-6 kinds of cookie and 8-10 ice cream flavors.
Where: check their calendar for up-to-date info on where to expect the truck in the city, or follow them on Twitter for info in real time.

Cinnamon Snail
What: All-vegan fare, specializing in pastries (particularly donuts).
Where: Follow the truck’s movements on Twitter.

Comme Ci Comme Ça
What: Traditional Moroccan fare (think cous cous) with plenty of vegetarian options.
Where: get location updates daily on the chef’s Twitter account.

Uncle Gussy’s
What: Greek sandwiches, salads, and platters, popular with the office lunch break crowd.
Where: Park Avenue and E 51st St. (that’s here).

Calexico
What: Tacos, burritos, quesadillas and a signature “crack sauce.”
Where: Prince St. and Wooster St., Soho.
Luke’s Lobster
What: Known for its sustainable, Maine-sourced lobster, crab, and shrimp rolls (pictured).
Where: For the most part the truck has put down roots in New Jersey, but has been making forays into Gowanus; keep track of that and more on its Twitter account.
Sammy’s Halal
What: A Vendy Award winner and an NYC street food staple, that’s what.
Where: 73rd St. and Broadway, Jackson Heights
Korilla BBQ
What: Korean barbecue, featuring tacos and burritos.
Where: Keep tabs on the truck on Twitter.
Why wait for the next food festival? Get out there and try something excellent!
